Cajuns defeat Grambling 40-10 in 2024 football season opener

LAFAYETTE, Louisiana - Louisiana kicked off its 2024 football season in impressive style by securing a dominant 40-10 victory over Grambling at Cajun Field on Saturday night.
Ben Wooldridge, the Cajun quarterback, had an impressive performance in the game, completing 25 out of 33 passes for 308 yards and three touchdowns. Harvey Broussard, Tavion Smith, and Terrance Carter each caught touchdown passes.
The scoring began with a 6-yard TD run by Dre’lyn Washington in the first quarter for the Ragin Cajuns.
In the first half, Caleb Kibodi intercepted a pass from Grambling and ran it back for a 50-yard touchdown. Kenneth Almendares also contributed with a 41-yard field goal, while Tony Sterner closed the scoring for the Cajuns with a 27-yard FG in the fourth quarter.
Ke’travion Hargrove rushed for 61 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries, and Reed Harradine scored a late 50-yard field goal for the Tigers.
The Cajuns' next game will be on the road against Georgia on Saturday, Sept. 7, facing Kennesaw State. Their next home game at Cajun Field is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 21 against Tulane.
