LSU-Clemson Football Opener to Kickoff in Primetime

BATON ROUGE – ESPN announced on Tuesday that the anticipated Top-10 clash between LSU and Clemson to kick off the 2025 college football season will be broadcast on ABC, with a 6:30 p.m. CT start time.
LSU and Clemson will face each other during the regular season for the first time on Saturday, Aug. 30, at Memorial Stadium. This will be LSU’s inaugural visit to Clemson’s Memorial Stadium and marks the fourth consecutive year that LSU’s season opener will air in prime time on ABC.
This encounter with Clemson will be the first since the CFP National Championship Game in January 2020, where LSU achieved a 42-25 victory in New Orleans.
Overall, LSU holds a 3-1 record against Clemson, with all previous meetings occurring in the postseason. LSU’s additional victories over Clemson were in the 1959 Sugar Bowl and the 1996 Peach Bowl. Clemson’s sole victory over LSU was in the 2012 Chick-fil-A Bowl.
LSU concluded the season with a 9-4 record, ending with three consecutive wins, including a 44-31 triumph over Baylor in the Texas Bowl. Clemson finished 2024 with a 10-4 record, losing to Texas in the first round of the CFP Playoffs.
