Sometimes the biggest offseason win doesn't happen in the transfer portal.

Sometimes it's getting your quarterback back.

After months of rehab and questions surrounding his recovery from a Lisfranc foot injury, LSU quarterback Sam Leavitt has officially been cleared and is back practicing at full speed.

For a team with national championship aspirations, that's about as good of news as Lane Kiffin could have asked for.

Leavitt arrived in Baton Rouge as the nation's top transfer quarterback after a standout career at Arizona State, but his arrival came with one question hanging over the program:

When would he be healthy?

That question has finally been answered.

According to Kiffin, Leavitt is now fully cleared after missing most of spring practice while recovering from surgery. The LSU head coach confirmed his quarterback is back to full strength heading into summer workouts.

That's a massive development for an offense that will revolve around Leavitt's ability to make plays with both his arm and his legs.

Earlier this offseason, Kiffin noted that Leavitt had already reached 21 miles per hour during team workouts—an encouraging sign that his mobility had returned before he was officially cleared.

Now the focus shifts from rehab to preparation.

Chemistry with receivers.

Learning every detail of Kiffin's offense.

Building timing.

Developing leadership inside the locker room.

Those are the things that matter now.

And the timing couldn't be better.

With LSU opening the season against Clemson under the lights in Death Valley, every practice rep is valuable. Having QB1 back on the field allows the offense to develop together instead of playing catch-up when fall camp begins.

Leavitt wasn't brought to Baton Rouge simply to manage games.

He was brought here because Kiffin believes he can elevate the entire offense.

His combination of arm talent, athleticism, and experience made him the top quarterback available in the transfer portal, and LSU wasted little time making him the face of the new era.

Now, Tiger fans finally get to see why.

The injury is behind him.

The rehab is over.

And after months of waiting, LSU's quarterback is exactly where everyone hoped he'd be.

Back on the practice field.

For a program chasing championships, that's one of the biggest victories of the offseason.
