After accepting the LSU head coaching job, Kiffin released a statement saying he wanted to remain on the sidelines to coach Ole Miss through its College Football Playoff run. According to Kiffin, Athletic Director Keith Carter denied that request despite the players allegedly asking for him to stay.

Within days of Kiffin's statement, several Ole Miss players took to social media to publicly dispute his claim.

Offensive lineman Brycen Sanders didn't mince words, posting that everyone in the room during the team's final meeting would disagree with Kiffin's account.

Linebacker Suntarine Perkins echoed that sentiment, saying the message Kiffin shared publicly wasn't what was said behind closed doors and that everyone present could back that up.

Defensive lineman PJ Wilkins was even more direct, simply responding that "nobody said that."

It's a notable development considering Kiffin's statement painted the picture that the locker room wanted him leading one final playoff run before heading to Baton Rouge. Instead, multiple players are now suggesting that conversation never happened.
