NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana - Despite forcing two turnovers, blocking a punt, and stopping the Philadelphia Eagles twice on fourth down in scoring position, the New Orleans Saints couldn't overcome a lackluster performance by the offense. The Eagles secured a 15-12 victory with two explosive plays on Sunday at the Caesars Superdome.
As a result of the defeat, the Saints' record fell to 2-1.
The Eagles remained without scoring until Saquan Barkley, their star running back, made a 65-yard touchdown run with 13:17 remaining in the game.
New Orleans regained the lead at 12-7 with a 13-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Derek Carr to receiver Chris Olave with 2:03 left on the clock. Philadelphia then took possession at their 31-yard line and swiftly advanced into scoring territory after a 61-yard pass to tight end Dallas Goedert. Barkley then scored on the following play, a 4-yard run up the middle. Philadelphia successfully converted their 2-point conversion.
Philadelphia was able to run out the clock after Carr's pass was intercepted down the middle.
