Tulane holds fifth through two rounds in Green Wave Invitational

NEW ORLEANS – Following a rainy day at TPC Louisiana Tulane golf closed the opening two rounds of the Green Wave Invitational in fifth place among eight teams in the field. The Green Wave finished Monday at +24 (600) 13 strokes behind the tournament leader South Alabama.
One of the Wave's three returners led the way for Tulane on the course to open the season as Matilde Innocenti shot +6 (150) to rank tied for 13th in the field after two rounds.
Freshman Francesca Pompa made her mark in her first tournament for Tulane as the only player for the Green Wave to record a round under par with a 71 (-1) in the second round. She also sits in a tie for 13th at +6 (150) so far for the tournament.
The next finishers for the Wave were all new members of the team this season as Sophia Yi-Ju Chen, Gabriella Gilrowski, and Cristina Albertazzi all finished the day tied for 19th overall at +8 (152). Senior Ruhee Pandit also shot a 152 (+8) to sit tied for 19th in the field competing as an individual.
Also competing as individuals Luna Xu and Tonka Zacharovska were next on the leaderboard for Tulane at 37th and 38th, respectively. Xu ended the opening two rounds at +14 (158) while Zacharovska closed at +16 (160).
Rounding out the day for the Wave was the final individual competitor freshman Lynne Zhang in 42nd with a two-round score of 163 (+19).
The Green Wave Invitational at TPC Louisiana will conclude Wednesday morning with a shotgun start at 8 a.m.
